Our Educational Pathway
Step-by-step learning modules guide you from understanding overdose to taking real-life action.
Each course is designed to be practical, accessible, and impactful.
Introduction to Overdose
An overdose occurs when substances overwhelm the body, disrupting vital functions. This module explains opioid, stimulant, alcohol, and mixed-substance overdoses, highlighting statistics, risk factors, tolerance, mixing, and mental health concerns.
Recognizing the Signs
Learn to identify overdose symptoms early. Opioids cause slowed breathing and pinpoint pupils; stimulants may trigger seizures and chest pain; alcohol leads to confusion, vomiting, and slowed breathing. Activities include role-playing scenarios.
Immediate Response Steps
This module teaches the “Check – Call – Care” method. Learn scene safety, calling emergency services, rescue breathing, CPR, and recovery position through hands-on practice with CPR kits and mannequins.
Naloxone Training
Naloxone can reverse opioid overdoses when administered correctly. Learn nasal spray and auto-injector use, step-by-step instructions, storage, expiration checks, and Good Samaritan laws. Practice administering Naloxone with safe trainer devices.
Post-Overdose Care
Supporting someone after overdose revival is crucial. Learn monitoring until EMS arrives, recognizing withdrawal after Naloxone, and connecting individuals with treatment services, counseling, and community resources for recovery and long-term support.
Prevention & Harm Reduction
Prevention saves lives. Discover safe medication storage, proper disposal methods, fentanyl test strips, and not using alone. Build supportive community networks, promote education, and reduce risks through harm reduction strategies.
Community Engagement & Resources
Communities are central to overdose prevention. This module focuses on partnerships with clinics, recovery centers, and faith organizations, advocacy for prevention funding, and comprehensive resource lists providing counseling.
